In this movie my man Harry Washello aka Anthony Edwards is on his way to get some with his special lady friend when he picks up a random phone booth call from a dude who straight up tells him that a nuclear war is about to start, fecal matter is about to hit the ventilation device you might say.

Here is the thing, i’m obsessed with end of the world / post apocalyptic / dystopian movies and this is one of the best and one of my favorite movie ever. We’re talking nuclear apocalypse here, we’re talking human on human extermination action. I guess it was popular in the 80s because of the nuclear arms race leftovers, i have been lately deep down into this twenty-four episode television documentary series about the Cold War, you know when usa and the soviet union were threatening each other of mutual nuclear blast and now president orange man decided to bring it back into fashion, so it’s text book convenient. I guess later on hollywood decided to make it more about weather disasters and space rocks because they thought we were done with this shit HAHA GOT TO LOVE THINKING ABOUT TOXIC CLOUDS AGAIN. But i have played the fallout games i am ready, fuck the minutemen though, anyway…

Miracle Mile aka 70 Minutos Para Morir in Spain and Soluzione Finale in Italy is a romantic end of the world movie directed and written by my dude Steve De Jarnatt in 1988, known for his work on Cherry 2000 (another 80s cool SF movie) aaaaaaand the Lizzie Mc Guire tv show, that’s a very peculiar curriculum right here. The movie is named after a real neighborhood in Los Angeles, never been there sadly but it’s on top of my list next time i’m in LA because i’m that dude in Parks and Recreation who goes to Paris and check the bridge from Inception.

dude where is my car part 2
Few words about the cast, main dude Harry Washello played by Anthony Edwards aka ACE, that Goose dude from Top Gun and also from the ER tv that you watched whenever you wanted your anxiety to beat records. Main girl Julie Peters played by Mare Winningham, look i know it was the 80s but that haircut is a straight no no, anyway very busy actress, been in like a 100 tv shows and movies, she also released albums, i mean so busy it makes my head spin.

But i guess what i like most about the cast are the small parts. I mean you have that jerk dude who send the ghostbusters to crazy people jail Kurt Fuller who’s also being a dick here.

tbh maybe we will all be that dude when the bombs start dropping
Then you have the jerk psychiatrist from Terminator Earl Boen who made a living of not believing the end is near.

there’s no more incoming nuclear attack than there is naked robot dudes coming from the future to kill the head of the future resistance trust me
But most of all you have muscular dude Brian Thompson, a very interesting fella. You might also know this dude by being one of the dudes who made the mistake of contesting the terminator fashion choices at the beginning of the first movie. This man, with a master of fine arts in his pocket is the official hollywood shapeshifter, if you know anyone who played 5 shapeshifting dudes in 5 different programs you let me know, 2 of his most famous shapeshifting works were of course in the X-Files and Buffy the vampire slayer.

even though he plays a muscular gym dude in this movie after investigation he turns out he gets all his power from windsurfing, you’ll do whatever you want with this piece of information
This movie has everything you need, the impending doom scenario, a cute love story, humans turning on each other like you thought they would in an apocalyptic scenario (come on if the end of the world sirens start blasting tomorrow you think people are gonna wait in line at the grocery store to stock up on water and smoked ham ?)
But it’s still has this stupidity type vibe you get from 80s movies, the main guy randomly answer the phone call announcing the end right in front of a diner at 4 am, same diner where is peacefully drinking coffee a woman who supposedly works for the government and also used to date a dude who worked at the Rand Corporation (real thing responsible for the creation of the Mutual Assured Destruction or MAD which basically meant during the cold war that both United States and USSR had to have the same nuclear power which meant that any attack could result in the assured destruction of any side, meaning if both sides are convinced they could fuck each other up real good they would never actually do it, it’s freakin crazy you should read about it if u never have) and knows only way to escape a nuclear cloud is to fly to Antartica but then the same woman also gets a dumb waitress and a random workman to make a list of important people to bring by on the trip, i mean the waitress suggest nba coach Pat Riley.

part of the movie happens in this diner, fat boy probably because the 2 bombs the United States dropped on Japan were named Fat Man and Little Boy, you thought you were reading about a movie but you got hit by the history class
Most importantly this movie provides one of the best soundtrack ever made, brought to you by the Tangerine Dream collective, mainly Paul Haslinger in this case. You might know them from the Thief or the Keep ost that i should probably talk about later, but also maybe from GTA V (you’ll hear the similarities mostly on the first track called Teetering Scales which really sounds like the mission music theme in GTA V). The music makes the first minutes of the movie amazing, mostly thanks to the track called On The Spur Of The Moment really one of the best piece of ambient stuff there is. Check the ost here :
I don’t know what else to say about this movie but you need to watch this you won’t regret it.

Special Shout Out to this background couple who decided to welcome the end with a bang

Spoiled Cabbage rating : 99 %
In this movie some teenager who was murdered by some gang scum comes back from the dead as my man Jake Kesey played by legend dude Charlie Sheen to take his revenge on those ridiculously looking jerks led by the extraordinary uncharismatic Packard Walsh aka Nick Cassavetes

The Wraith aka Il Replicante in Italy, Turbocop in Mexico and Phantom in France is an american independent action horror romantic movie released in 1986 directed and written by Mike Marvin. My dude Mikey was a big shot in the 70s in the sport movie scene, precisely he mad a bunch of ski movies during the birth of the extreme skiing movement. He’s mostly a legend for writing those 2 movies called Hot Dog the movie & Hamburger the movie.

Few words about the cast, first of all you have my man, the legend who almost made a trash tv show like 2 & a half men funny (i said almost), probably in my top 10 just because of the ridiculous amount of times i watched the Hot Shots VHS in the 90s, Charlie Sheen.

Then you have probably the ultimate crush, i’ve been in love with her since when i tried to watch Twin Peaks to look cool and edgy, Audrey Horne aka Keri Johnson in this movie aka Sherilyn Fenn.

Get a load of this girl, she probably smells like peach, i do not know how to make heart eyes emoji on tumblr
The rest of the cast is not that noticeable, the bad guy looks ridiculous and the chief of police is that drunk dude from Independence Day with Will Smith who possibly gave his life to save the planet, Randy Quaid.

Yes those 3 dudes form the most feared gang in Arizona
This is by far the best movie about a dude returning from the dead in the shape of a different dude just to take his revenge on a bunch of other dudes who absolutely don’t look dangerous by street racing them to death with a magic ghost car while getting his old girlfriend back in the process. Parts of it look cheap, the cast is weird, Randy Quaid as the big deal cop is less charismatic than Paul Blart the mall cop, the bad guy looks like a dude from a surf movie about buddies smuggling booze into the school campus and there’s no obvious limit to what this ghost dude can do but apparently he can live a normal life and move to california like any other douchebag around.

This movie was released as Phantom in France and is about revenge what else do you need
But this movie has cars and some of the best car chases scenes ever, not kidding. Jake Kesey drives the Turbo Interceptor which was actually a real car, the Dodge M4s prototype, then you have the bad guy old corvette, the dodge daytona turbo z, the pontiac firebird, the plymouth barracuda, the triumph spitfire 1500, if you’re into old cars you will dig.

I don’t think the soundtrack is that good, classic 80s corny stuff but it could have been better, one of those time when i wish i could get my hand on the movie with the just the dialogues and fx tracks so i could re score everything. It really looks amazing tho, the movie has been filmed in Tucson, Arizona (big up Go Go Bizkitt, Richie and Jose, throwback to a El Paso - Las Vegas road trip 4/5 years ago with a stop in Tucson) so many stills worth a screenshot and i really wish the Big Kay’s Burger joint was real.

Apparently there’s only one road leading in and out of the place
Of course you can cut the sound and pair this movie with your favorite synthwave mp3s.

No one can say “you’re pathetic !” like keri johnson, classic 80s bad guy knife action + real fuckboy move

This is the bad guy the entire town has been fearing, seriously this is the gang leader, no jokes, oooor theory this is future Steve Harrington from Stranger Things
Special shout out to this asshole cop who didn’t get charged for this burger because he’s the big police dude around and who shows a really despicable attitude regarding the planet and the big kay’s burger staff, fuck you Randy Quaid.

Decomposed Artichoke rating : 94 %
In this movie my man Michael Brace played by legend dude Christopher Walken (and really i could just stop right here because like me you might just watch it because of the guy) and his lab buddy Lillian Reynolds - whose main character thing is to smoke around 178 cigarettes - are 2 genius scientists who are working on a device that can record people’s feelings, thoughts and make a videotape of it so other dudes can experience it all, you would need to wear a special science helmet and then you can see, feel and taste what someone else saw, felt and tasted. It’s like the ultimate VR experience from the eighties (yes of course you can use it for porn, it’s not a 80s movie without a boobs scene). Of course the military had to get their nose in this project after a big breakthrough from our 2 scientists, as they see in this device a cool new fun way to torture people and that’s when things started to go nuts, specially when someone decided to record their own death.

Brainstorm aka Proyecto Brainstorm in Colombia is a science fiction movie released in 1983 directed by Douglas Trumbull and written by Bruce J. Rubin. Douglas Trumbull is a legend in the visual effect field who also directed a few movies, he’s know for his work on 2001 a space odyssey, Close encounter of the third kind or Blade Runner and this is why this movie is visually striking. Bruce J. Rubin wrote stuff like Ghost with my man Swayze, classic Deep Impact but his best work was possibly when he wrote Stuart Little 2, i mean come on a talking mouse who gets in the local soccer team, you can’t make this stuff up but he can.

a really poor choice of font
This movie is a mess but it looks great. The plot doesn’t make much sense, it doesn’t really go anywhere but yeah it looks really cool. Part of it can be explained because the main actress Natalie Wood died before the end of the filming on some sort of boat accident, supposedly after that the movie company tried to kill the movie and to cash some insurance money, the regular corporate bullshit, Doug Trumbull had the final word and decided to finish it but he also decided he had enough of those corporate sharks and decided not to direct anymore movie.

Few words about the cast, CHRISTOPHER FUCKIN WALKEN, that’s about it. But well yeah probably not his best gig, he doesn’t really look like he gives a shit but like always he looks like he could be that dude who go get some milk for the family at 10 and then proceed to shoot all his coworkers with a sawed shotgun at 11.
So yeah i wouldn’t say it’s a great movie but it looks really cool, my hombre Douggy used this cool trick i’ve never seen before where the “dream” sequences inside the device are played widescreen while the normal ones are different. That’s the thing about this movie, it could have been so much more. There could have been confusing scenes where it appears to be a normal scene but it plays out widescreen like a dream sequence so you don’t know what’s real anymore in some sort of end of Inception type deal. Also they barely tap into the potential of the device, like this short scene where Mike (Christopher Walken) can play the piano just because of a sequence recorded on the device by his wife playing the piano, some “i know kung fu” Matrix type scenario. But yeah i guess it’s easier to write about a mouse who’s playing soccer with regular size kids.

Justice new cover art
Of course it’s hollywood so it had to end up like a classic science gone wrong and the government wants to use my shit to destroy people’s mind and guide death projectiles from a distance but i’m gonna stop them story. But anyway the concept is really interesting, they filmed this in 1981 and it just blows my mind how they could come up with all that at the time, there’s some hacking involved too, i don’t understand the technology behind it but it’s there.

When you’re playing somewhere and they didn’t get you the Tim Tam on your rider
The soundtrack is good, thanks to the work of James Horner, huge resume but if you need to remember only 1 thing remember he worked on cult classic Commando. Nothing crazy though it’s pretty classic and i’d recommend playing this movie without the sound while you’re having a couple of friends over to get rekt on your substance of choice while listening to some chaotic anthems. What makes this movie great to me is the visual effect, photography and the amazing editing from Freeman Davies (who worked on The Warriors).

I’m a sucker for very obvious product placement and coke is life and so is Ruff potato chips (feel free to send me a box of those as we don’t have it in France)

Special shout out to this dude for this impeccable acting

Forgotten cucumber rating : 86 %
By popular demand (like maybe 3 people demanded it) i’m gonna use the tumblr website to speak about movies, the ones i used for those few video edits i’ve made and the ones i sample in my mixtapes. I’m warning you some of those movies are a big mess, plot holes, terrible cast, but this is not imdb.com my dudes and i’m not trying to impress any cute thing i’ve met at the library who has watched Citizen Kane 13 times in exchange for sexual intercourse.
To explain why i like those movies is simple, it will usually comes down to 3 things, the soundtrack, the cast and the global aesthetic, and also a few favourites scenes. All those movies can be found by anyone with google skills, online stream, youtube, torrents, you can also buy them if you’re into collecting objects. If you have a vhs of any of those movies i require a jpeg. Now let’s talk about motion pictures.

In this movie my main man Larry Roberts, plastic surgeon (portrayed by Albert Finney who looks like he could grill a mean sausage) worked on a group of babes who were looking for perfection, he then learned that those same girls died in shady ways. You can’t fool Larry who gets suspicious and starts his own investigation which will lead him to discover the weird activities of a big deal high tech company called Digital Matrix (!)
Looker AKA l’Ordinateur Meurtrier in Canada and Troppo Belle Per Vivere in Italy is a science fiction movie directed and written by Mike Crichton in 1981. The same dude who wrote Jurassic Park and Westworld which has been made into a movie (that i’ll speak about another day) which then inspired the 2016 tv show. Yeah the dude like stories about men creating things that will entirely go wrong regardless of the many warnings they get. But also this movie is basically talking about CGI before it was even a thing, “the first use of shaded 3D CGI in a feature film” before TRON. Globally this movie is banging society more than 30 years before Black Mirrors, talking about manipulative ads and how to alienate the customer, scary stuff.

What’s a good movie review without a shot of the moment in the movie where they say the name of the movie you’re watching
Few words about the cast, Albert Finney aka Dr Larry Roberts, i like this dude, he’s been in James Bond movies and stuff, he has no manager, no agent, like me and likes Manchester United, cutie pie Susan Day as Cindy, my dude Dorian Harewood aka Ltn Masters aka Eightball it ain’t too goddamned beaucoup from Full Metal Jacket, main villain James Coburn aka John Reston, legend dude who once played a character named Mr Crisp in Sister Act 2, the classic henchman Tom Rossovich aka Moustache Man who looks like he could fix your entire bathroom with one screwdriver

That’s Tom Selleck’s college roomate right here, not even kidding
So what you get if you watch this is a GREAT intro, the first 5 minutes of a movie are critical, supposedly, this one is nailing it, there’s a playboy playmate and you get a theme song and all, a very good soundtrack, too bad they never released the official ost, everything fits, from the Sue Saad songs to the scenes with Vivaldi, and a few hints of classic 80s movie synth work, and a really cool looking movie overall, it’s one of those movies you could play in the background with music on top of it at a party or something, very often i’ll see people trying to come up with cheesy visuals with their names on it (impact font size 72) while really you just need to play stuff like this.
Best scenes, moustache man uses a weird gun that can hypnotize his victims so they lose any notion of time, kind of a let down that the dude is very serious and not once think about lowering the pants of a douchebag down to his ankles, the fx is straight fire tho

The best looking parts are on my video edit for Commercial Break #9 anyway
Special background shout out, to the worst background volleyball player that ever lived with short passes stats around 12/100
